Coal Heater: an isometric kitchen mini-game
An isometric kitchen on a 404 page: light the coals without starting a fire. Heat, fire, water and shadows are calculated in the game itself.
Try it with a mouse or touch.
The task
A 404 page is usually a dead end. We wanted to turn it into a short game that is memorable, does not get in the way of the site and works on any device.
The solution
- Each coal has two sides with their own temperature: heat is transferred from the pan, so the coal has to be flipped.
- Fire can spread to neighboring coals, and it can be put out with an extinguisher or with water: the pan is filled at the sink.
- Dynamic lights and cast shadows change the picture together with the glow of the coals.
- The best time is saved as a record in the browser (localStorage), so there is something to beat on the next try.
Details
- Mouse, touch and keyboard control: the game is playable without a mouse.
- Isometric pixel-art graphics, with sprites built programmatically.
